Situated on beautiful Estero Bay, the cliffs and ridges of the island of Mound Key Archaeological State Park rise over 30 feet tall above the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Traces of life dating back millions of years have been found at the site, from early crustacean life to the beginnings of human civilization. The park is believed to have been a religious center for American Indians before the arrival of Columbus.
